A note from Singapore's Plus Size blogger

MynameisQUE;

[This post is part of a campaign by About Curves
to spread the word about Size acceptance.
About Curves is a a US blogshop selling plus size lingerie]

Being plus sized has always been a struggle for me.

 Especially in Asia when almost everybody is stick thin. I remember how they called me "fatty bom bom" and so many other names.

I remember back in primary school, I joined the choir. There was some inter-school competition and only the best would be able to represent us. I tried my hardest to keep up with the bloody dance steps, but yes, obviously I'm not much of a dancer and wasn't chosen in the end. I controlled my tears and when I went home, I cried. I could have looked pretty in that costume on stage. But no, not being chosen made me feel that I just wasn't good enough. Why? Because I was plus size. To put it bluntly, fat.

It took me a VERY long time to accept my body. Why? Because everybody made me feel that I wasn't good enough. People and the media. Everytime I walk, I get stares from people. Some would whisper among themselves. Some would just bluntly blurt out a comment like "So fat". The media portrayed plus size girls like Betty in Ugly Betty as UGLY. Ugly is such a mean word but people still use it on others. Society is fucked.

Just because I weighed more than everyone else, doesn't make me less of a human being.

I struggled to accept my own body.That's why this blog now aims to empower plus size women in Singapore and wherever you are to feel good about yourself. We can look pretty too, we just have to put in a little effort. Size acceptance starts with yourself. Love and accept yourself. Embrace those curves and love handles and walk with your head held high.

Celebrate your curves!
Good luck. :)

Hugs and kisses,
RynaQUE

I’m impressed, I have to say. Actually hardly ever do I encounter a blog that’s each educative and entertaining, and let me let you know, you will have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the problem is something that not sufficient individuals are speaking intelligently about. I am very blissful that I stumbled across this in my search for one thing regarding this.
